Axe Throwing for Boy Scouts

outdoor axe throwing in Greensboro

It’s time to take aim! Get your boys out in the woods or indoors for some axe throwing fun at Kersey Valley Attractions. We support scouting at all levels, whether it’s merit badge earning or a day of simple boyhood fun. A good old-fashioned session of axe throwing is a great way to support both skill and healthy emotional development.

Axe Throwing Helps Boys Develop Skills

Axe throwing requires a little bit of coordination, technique, and timing in order to hit the target or score a bull’s-eye. We’ve hosted countless boy scout groups over the years, and we’ve seen many boys grow in strength and confidence by developing axe throwing skills. Why?

Because axe throwing is a lane for discovery. With a little practice, boys age 13 and up who may not be adept in other areas can find themselves extremely capable of handling an axe and hitting the target consistently. Plus, boys will learn the ins and outs of safely handling an axe, different throwing techniques, and a few other tips from our “axepert” guides.

Axe Throwing Encourages Friendly Competition

Who doesn’t like a little friendly competition? Axe throwing can be both an individual and competitive sport. So, boys can choose to go head to head with one another or split into competition teams. Our indoor axe throwing facility offers digital scoring among competitors and the opportunity for boy scouts to cheer each other on from an area of safety.

If your scouts choose our outdoor axe throwing adventure, they can travel around part of our Kersey Valley Attractions 80-acre property and compete at 11 different outdoor targets. We just ask that you bring a minimum of four competitors… and our outdoor range can accommodate as many as 100! (12 maximum players allowed indoors)

So, bring your pack or bring the whole council. We’ve got room for you!

Axe Throwing Develops Camaraderie

Depending on your group size and if you choose our indoor or outdoor range, you can expect a 1.5 to two-hour experience. During that time, boys can form bonds, establish new friendships, and create memories with their fellow boy scouts.

And when the axe throwing is done, stay with us a while longer to top off your day. We offer free use of our large, covered outdoor shelter and outdoor grills. Just let us know in advance, and we’ll reserve the space for you for a few hours or for the day. You are welcome to bring your own food to cook up on our grills—or just get some pizza delivered at our parking lot. Boys will have fun regaling their conquests of the day. And they’ll be talking about it for weeks!

Be sure to check out our website for other details you’ll need to know before you arrive. We can’t wait to host your soon-to-be-lumberjack boys here at Kersey Valley Attractions.
